How to Become A Christian

THE PROBLEM:

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death"
Romans 6:23

Most people admit that they are not perfect.
Speaking a cross word, treating someone disrespectfully, stretching the truth,
even one of these is enough to eternally separate us from God.
Without thinking about the consequences, we have chosen, by our sin, to turn away from God.
The penalty of our sin (death) has to be paid but it is too great for us.

THE HOPE:

"For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life."
John 3:16

"God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8

Although we are sinners, deserving death, God loves us and is reaching out to us.
He sent his son Jesus, who accepted the punishment for our sin and died on a cross
so that we could be forgiven and come to know God.
Only Jesus, could receive the penalty of death for our sin,
overcome it by rising again,
and provide a way for us back to God.

WHAT I MUST DO:

"If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."
Romans 10:9-10

God made a way for us to restore our relationship with Him
and extends this gift to all who will receive it.
He does not, however, force us into this relationship.
It is up to us to come to Him.
You can do so by praying the following prayer.

Heavenly Father,  I am a sinner who deserves death and eternal separation from you.  Please save me.  I believe that You love me and gave your son, Jesus to die for my sins.  I believe that Jesus paid the penalty for my sin with his death, then conquered death by rising again.  Lord, I now turn from my sin and turn to you.  Jesus, be my Lord.  I receive Your free gift of eternal life.  Let me be your friend now and forever, in Jesus Name, I pray.

If you have sincerely prayed this prayer, you have entered a new relationship with God.  This new relationship has tremendous benefits, the primary one being that upon our death, we have the assurance that we will spend eternity with God and will not be separated from Him.  We would like to rejoice with you.  Please send us an e-mail or call us at 610-495-5270.

WHAT NOW?

As a Christian, you need to let God be a part of all of your thinking and decisions.   God promises, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."  Hebrews 13:5.  This and many other promises are found in the Bible.  You will want to make regular Bible reading and prayer a part of your new relationship with Him.  If you don't have a Bible, you can find one online. Click here.  You may want to start by reading the Book of John.  Many Christians also read daily devotions. Click here for a new devotion every day.

Also, you will need to connect with a church in your community.  As a Christian, you'll will still have trials and tribulations in life.  God will be with you, but his servants are also there to help.  The Bible also tells us that fellowship with one another is a critical part of our growth.

"Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven." Matthew 10:32.

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another."
Hebrews 10:24-25.

"Praise the LORD . Sing to the LORD a new song, [sing] His praise in the assembly of the saints."
Psalm 149:1.
